THE LAW WAS waxing poetic after a suspected bandit was captured hopping on the rear of a UPS truck to make his flight.

On July 3, Michael Daversa, 31, started some fireworks of his own.

He drew deputies on his trail who were after him for going on a five-finger discount spree to the tune of $1,500 at a Lowe’s.

Not long after the call came to sheriffs, a witness saw the man kicking back on the bumper of a UPS truck as it was gliding along Palm Coast Parkway.

The courier was less than inspired — and when reaching Lupia Court ultimately told Daversa there were no free rides.

Soon after the big box store bilker was in custody.

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office spiked the justice football by offering a little epigram.

“Steal some stuff,

Try to hide on a UPS truck.

That’s logistics.

Someone calls 911,

Your escape plan’s undone.

That’s logistics!”

Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly: "Thanks to a citizen seeing something and saying something, we were able to get this thief off the streets. He tried to get away on a UPS truck, but instead earned himself free same-day delivery to the Green Roof Inn.”

They say it was 32-year-old Thomas Rodriguez’s. But Bobby Guzman, 48, who was riding shotgun, was also nabbed.
